Small, medium or LARGE?

What are the differences in our kits? Why they’re different? and what one might be best for you?

Within our shop, you'll find we have 3 different sizes of Ready to Grow mushroom kits.

The size of a grow kit usually determines the size of the mushroom crop you’ll be able to grow over the life of your kit, but also the type of mushrooms you’re going to want to grow.

When we fist started making our Ready to Grow kits, we wanted to produce a kit that would get you growing a good sized crop of delicious mushrooms, with simple instructions and that didnt cost the earth in order to do so.

Our original STARTER KITS do this perfectly. They’re just under a 1 kilo in weight, and small enough to sit on a saucer in your kitchen or somewhere light and where you’ll be able to see them grow. They’ll get you growing around 250g* of delicious oyster mushrooms over 1-3 flushes and are a great introduction into growing mushrooms.

These kits come in a canvas bag and branded banner - here you’ll find useful information about your mushrooms, and basic ‘how to grow’ instructions. Inside the canvas bag is a full set of instructions and a fully colonised substrate block. On the block we have marked a large ‘X’, this is where you’ll open your kit ahead watering - for a full set of instructions click HERE.

Our MEDIUM KITS weigh closer to 2 kilos, and will grow you a good crop of either Lion’s Mane, Shiitake or King Oyster mushrooms. By giving you a bigger kit, this allows you to grow a bigger first flush of these delicious mushroom. Lion’s Mane, Shiitake and King Oyster mushrooms are slower growing and use more nutrients when growing, you’re likely to get 1-2 crops from your Ready to Grow kit.

These kits come in a canvas bag. Inside the canvas bag is a full set of instructions and a fully colonised substrate block. They’re all opened from the top (except the shiitake) and need a light misting a couple of times a day - for a full set of instructions click HERE.

Last but not least we have our SUPERSIZED, no frill kits. These weigh just under 3 kilos and are for anyone just wanting to grow more, gifting you around 750-1kilo of mushrooms. Perfect for bigger families or keen chefs, they are bigger in size and will need to sit on a dinner plate rather than a saucer.

When you order one of our ‘no frills’ kits you’ll receive a fully colonised and ready to grow substrate block. On the front is a sticker with a QR code which gives you access to your growing instructions. You can find all the instructions HERE, where you’ll also find downloadable and printer versions available.

The reason we call them our ‘no frills’ kits is because we have pared back any unnecessary packaging and literature, this helps to reduce waste and subsequently costs. Allowing us to keep our online prices as low as possible and you growing more for less.
